Visiting BTHQ

As BTHQ is not ‘strictly’ a shop we hold varied opening hours. We are usually open Tuesdays 10am – 2pm, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday 10am – 4pm.  We are often open earlier or later on these days if we have classes running.

We also run classes on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays but our retail area will be closed to drop in’s during this time.  We love visitors and you’re always welcome, but we do advise you to call us first before just dropping in outside of the above-mentioned hours. Our number telephone number is 01277 811136.

We have free parking in our visitors car park which is the yard immediately as you drive in through the gate.  Please walk around the building to our unit.  If you require closer parking due to a disability or have mobility issues, please call us first, and we can arrange closer parking and access to our wheelchair friendly entrance.

SAT NAV

Our address is Unit 1, Ingrave Enterprise Centre, 8 Brentwood Road, Brentwood, Essex, CM13 3QH

If you use Sat Nav to find us it will take you to the nearby golf course.  Please bear this in mind and review the driving directions below for our exact location.

DRIVING DIRECTIONS

From the A127 – Turn off the A127 at the junction for Brentwood (Half Way House A128).  Follow the signs to Brentwood driving through the village of Herongate and then Ingrave.  As you leave Ingrave you will go through white gates and enter a 50mph zone.  On the right is a large cream house this is our site.  Drive past the white gates outside and past the two big trees on the right and then turn into the gate beyond the trees.  Park your car in this yard.

From Brentwood – From Wilsons corner at the top of the High Street, drive down the A128 Ingrave Road towards the A127.  Drive over Shenfield common cross roads and continue down the road, straight over a mini roundabout and King Georges Playing Fields on your right.  Staight over the next 2 roundabouts and into a 50mph zone.  (Go round a sharp left hand bend and then slow down and signal left as cars travel fast behind you and may not slow down enough for you to turn in).  You will see the big cream house and stable building approaching on your left. Turn into the 1st gate before the buildings and park in the yard you pull into.

OF A WEEKEND THE GATES TO THE VISITORS CAR PARK MAY BE LOCKED IN WHICH CASE PLEASE COME IN THROUGH THE GATES BY THE HOUSE INSTEAD AND DRIVE ROUND.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

TRAIN – Our most accesible station is West Horndon on the C2C line as a regular bus service connects the train station to BTHQ.  Both Shenfield and Brentwood stations are less accesible and will require you to change on to a bus or add a walk to your journey as well.

BUS –  The 565 bus from Brentwood High Street – West Horndon train station (The bus stop is just on the border of the village of Ingrave and a couple of minutes walk along the road into the 50mph zone) DOWNLOAD A TIMETABLE

I used to hesitate to create online courses for ch I used to hesitate to create online courses for children as I thought it would have to involve the parents too much, the kids might loose interest or not see the relevance of sewing as a skill in our modern age.

That was until I asked some children and their parents to test out the idea … and I was amazed by the results, the enthusiasm, the excitement with which the children completed the course and were hungry for more, to move on to the BTHQ adult courses!

One thing I hadn’t thought of is how eco conscious our kids are these days … the appeal of throw away fashion vs creating something from nothing or reusing fabric from other sources really appeals to a lot of children who want a different, better future for our planet … learning to sew … to reuse, repurpose, recycle fashion and fabrics is a great way to encourage and support your child and generations to come in helping forge a sustainable future for the planet they will inherit.

I am so proud of the new Kids sewing 101 course. Those who have already completed it have done amazing things and it’s not just their sewing that has improved … it’s their self confidence, their sense of who they are and what they can achieve and their imagination about the next thing they want to make!

If you want to find out more then head to our website (link in the bio) and search kids 101. It's instant access and suitable for total beginners.

Got a fabric you love and know what it's destined to be turned into?

Cut it out ASAP.

You're more likely to actually sew it together if the boring bits done already.

Find a spot more time......mark your darts and do any interfacing.

I have a whole basket of cut projects ready to go. That way when I have some sewing time I can take my pick and its all good to go.

Zip up your project in a wallet with any zips, threads and buttons all together with the pattern and instructions.

You can thank me later
