During this session, we will look at a sewing pattern, learn how to take measurements accurately and decide on a size.
We will talk you through the terms and instructions, what all the various markings and instructions actually mean.
If we need to merge sizes we can show you how to do that and make any necessary alterations before cutting out our paper pattern and showing you how to use layplans to lay it onto fabric and prepare to cut it out.
All that you need to bring is a paper pattern. We recommend you choose something from a well-known make such as Simplicity, Butterick, Vouge or Mccalls. Choose something simple but not ‘as’ simple as a pair of PJ bottoms!
A tea dress, shift dress or simple skirt and top would be ideal to get the best from the pattern.
You do not need fabric as we will not be cutting out your pattern during this session, we will use one pupils cut pieces to layout on fabric in the studio and show you how this is done at the end of the class.
If you wish to make your garment after the session then please contact us to arrange a space in a suitable class.
