Simply bring along all of your favourite pieces of fabric to join together for a top and side. You will need pieces measuring a minimum of 6″ wide by 12″ long and it’s entirely up to you how you create your design. Go for a total mismatch like we have or coordinate your colours to suit your room like Sandra has with her blue and white pouf.
There’s also nothing wrong with buying new fabric to make the pouf of your dreams, although scrap-busting is better for the planet!
You will also need a long 26″ nylon zip and a large piece of upholstery fabric or something sturdy to use as the base. (1.5 metres of heavyweight interfacing will be provided as part of you class fee).
Then comes the stuffing! We saved up all our sewing scraps from classes and dressmaking for nearly 2 years to get a good firm structure, but you can include old towels, jumpers, cushions and pillows. Basically if it’s textile and rubbish then it’s perfect. Bring it all along in bin bags and if you need a spot more stuffing you can always add it later once you get home.
Last but not least a copy of the pattern. You will need to sign up for the Closet Core Patterns newsletter to gain access to their fabulous pattern library where the pattern is available to download for free. You can cancel your subscription at any time once you’ve got the pattern and there is no financial commitment. Please print your pattern to 100% actual size and bring it along. If you are comfortable sticking it together at home, feel free. If not then we can help you when you get to class.
