These leggings really are super simple even if you have never sewn anything before.
Simple to sew up on your home sewing machine, your child can have leggings in every colour under the sun! Advice will be given for overlocker users if required.
You will need to purchase the following pattern: http://www.duckbuttdesigns.com/product/kids-plain-pants
You can get it for FREE if you follow the instructions on the website (though consider that the designer gets no income from this and £2.10 is nothing to pay for a good quality pattern).
As this is a ZOOM class and we are unable to help you ‘in-person’ we are insisting all fabric is 95% cotton 5% elastin jersey and really good quality. If you have fabric already, please message Claire to check that it is the correct type. otherwise please order from pink scissors and use code Pink12 to obtain a discount. (this is not an affiliate link but we know the materials are perfect for this task)
You can determine how much fabric you require by choosing your desired size on the pattern once it’s downloaded.
You can use the same fabric for your waistband and cuffs or choose a contrasting plain ribbing. Suzanne from pink scissors will guide you in your purchase.
Please print your pattern ahead of the class and stick it together. Be careful to follow the print instructions to ensure you get the right size.
You will be able to choose whether you would like a narrow waistband or a double fold yoga band in class. Contrast cuffs and waistbands are optional, or you can use 1 print throughout. Fabric requirements are printed in your instructions once downloaded.
During the session, we will work together to cut out and sew the trousers with your desired cuffs and bands. You will learn how to calculate waistband and cuff sizes which is a really useful thing to know.
You will be sent a link to access the ZOOM class before the session, please make sure you have zoom loaded onto a laptop or iPad that you can stand up close to you when you sew and see clearly.
Set up your sewing machine with a matching thread and inserted a stretch needle. You will also need your iron to hand. Ideally, you will be cutting out using a rotary cutter and a mat, but if you do not have these items fabric scissors and pins will work.
If you have any questions about this class, please do not hesitate to ask before booking.
The class has been scheduled for 5 hours, but we will take regular breaks. It may not take as long but it is very hard to tell how long to set aside with 6 pupils all in their own homes, so set aside the day and buckle up for a fun ride!
