Description

During the class you will enjoy tea and a natter, as well as experiencing what BTHQ has to offer. We hope it will encourage you to return and further your sewing skills.

You have the option of bringing along your own sewing machine and learning how to thread it, or using one of our computerised onsite machines.  Please let us know in the comments when booking if you will be bringing your own machine so we can make space for it.

Please be 100% sure that your machine is in full working order and bring along the instructions book, foot pedal and any accesories that come with it.

Please note this class is for ages 12+ (Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a full paying adult)

This was the very first course I did with Claire as she recommended it if you hadn’t used a sewing machine before, which I hadn’t I just had one bought for me for my birthday at the time. This course taught me everything I needed to know about using a sewing and more and the bonus is the course is free, after I completed this course I went into completing the intensive beginners day class.

I used to hesitate to create online courses for ch I used to hesitate to create online courses for children as I thought it would have to involve the parents too much, the kids might loose interest or not see the relevance of sewing as a skill in our modern age.

That was until I asked some children and their parents to test out the idea … and I was amazed by the results, the enthusiasm, the excitement with which the children completed the course and were hungry for more, to move on to the BTHQ adult courses!

One thing I hadn’t thought of is how eco conscious our kids are these days … the appeal of throw away fashion vs creating something from nothing or reusing fabric from other sources really appeals to a lot of children who want a different, better future for our planet … learning to sew … to reuse, repurpose, recycle fashion and fabrics is a great way to encourage and support your child and generations to come in helping forge a sustainable future for the planet they will inherit.

I am so proud of the new Kids sewing 101 course. Those who have already completed it have done amazing things and it’s not just their sewing that has improved … it’s their self confidence, their sense of who they are and what they can achieve and their imagination about the next thing they want to make!

If you want to find out more then head to our website (link in the bio) and search kids 101. It's instant access and suitable for total beginners.

Got a fabric you love and know what it's destined to be turned into?

Cut it out ASAP.

You're more likely to actually sew it together if the boring bits done already.

Find a spot more time......mark your darts and do any interfacing.

I have a whole basket of cut projects ready to go. That way when I have some sewing time I can take my pick and its all good to go.

Zip up your project in a wallet with any zips, threads and buttons all together with the pattern and instructions.
