Description

There are 5 levels to our sewing club:  Bronze Level 1, Bronze Level 2, Silver, Gold & Platinum.  Each month you will receive a brand new sewing course.

You can join at the Bronze level 1 (total beginners), Bronze level 2 (basic sewing knowledge) or Silver (Intermediate).  Once you’ve completed each level you are automatically ‘upgraded’ to the next level and continue developing your skills and learning new techniques until you reach platinum.

As you gain more knowledge and experience the courses get more detailed and complicated, always teaching you new skills and always taught in a fun and lighthearted way, making it easy to complete each task with ease.  You can work through at your own pace and there is ZERO pressure on you to complete projects within a set timeframe.

You can watch this explanation video or scroll on further for a written explanation and the fine details

What projects will I receive? – Depending on if you are a Bronze level 1 or 2, Silver or Gold member you will receive the following projects in this order
Bronze Level 1:
This level is basically our existing Beginners sewing 101 course broken down into 3 months.  If you want to skip this monthly breakdown and speed through the course quickly, you can buy it as a separate standalone course and join sewing club at Bronze level 2 instead.
Month 1: Intro guides and mini videos – How to purchase my 1st machine, threading my machine, tools and materials required, how to cut fabric and top tips and techniques to making friends with your sewing machine.  You will also receive a project to make a quilted fabric box.
Month 2: A tote bag
Month 3: A cushion cover with a zip
Bronze Level 2:
Month 1: Patchwork placemats
Month 2: Sewing Machine Mat
Month 3: Doorstop with a zipper base

Silver:
Month 1: Mug bag
Month 2: Tie top cushion with french seams
Month 3: Scrappy zipper pouch
Month4: Layflat drawstring makeup bag
Month 5: Vivien project/wash bag
Month 6: Vinyl storage pouch

Gold:
Month 1: Aprons and oven mitts
Month 2: Messenger bag
Month 3: Packing cubes
Month 4: Vinyl travel organiser
Month 5: Jewelry roll & Buttonholes masterclass
Month 6: Free machine embroidery basics

Platinum operates very differently giving you access to a whole host of craft courses and projects but you will find out more about that when you reach the top (This will take you a minimum of 1 year and a max of 1.5 years) needless to say it’s great value and incredibly beneficial to get to this level. You will receive early access to all sorts of great projects as well as monthly masterclasses, discounts on classes and materials and free access to group sewcials.

If you would like to join ‘the club’ here’s how it’s going to work:

The Sew Beautiful Things Sewing Club offers you a monthly sewing project to work on. Joining this community gives you access to our in house designs and tutorials and the support of your fellow group members and tutors from Beautiful Things to help you out along the way.

Numbers are limited and the doors to the group will only open 4 times a year.  Our termly intakes are January, April, July & October on the 1st of the month.

The group costs £3.50 to join and then £45.00 a quarter to remain a member. Quarterly subs for the next quarter will commence 2 weeks before term starts. (You do not have to pay this now) your joining fee will secure you a place in the group. Cut off for joining is always 2 days before term starts.  You will be emailed 2 weeks before term starts and asked to pay your subscription within those 2 weeks.

We reserve the right to put the price up during the course of the year, but should you join now we will honour these rates for the lifetime of your membership.

In a nutshell for the equivalent of £15.00 per month you will receive guidance to make 6 beautiful sewing projects during the course of 6 months.  The projects remain yours to access for as long as you like and there is no rush to get finished, but know that once you have received all 6 projects, you will be upgraded to the next level where you can access a whole bunch of additional courses for a further 6 months!

Every month you will receive written instructions, a pattern and a full video tutorial. All items will require minimal materials to make.

All you need is a sewing machine and some basic tools.

Doors to the club are now OPEN!  If you’d like to join in the fun, simply choose which level you wish to join at, pay the joining fee of £3.50 using the button below.  This will reserve your spot in our next cohort and we will add you into a private Facebook group once the new term starts. (If you don’t use Facebook I am afraid there is no alternative option at this point but we are working on it.  You can still join and receive project content but will forfeit the group chats).

2 weeks before your 1st course is allocated you will be sent a subscription link to pay your first quarterly subscription of £45.00  Once we have received your subscription you will receive your 1st project on the 1st of each month.

You can remain a member of the group for as long as you continue to pay your quarterly subscription fees and are welcome to leave/cancel your subscription at any time.  Your courses never expire and remain yours forever.

Upgrades to the Silver level are only possible after completing Bronze Level 2.  If you feel the projects are too simple for you at this level you can bypass them when you join and join at the Silver level to begin.

The Sewing Club is a brilliant idea…one new project a month, each that teaches you new skills. The courses are yours forever, so there is no time pressure to complete them. Each project has a video (or videos) to show exactly what to do, and you can rewind as many times as you need to. Claire is only a message away to help (and is very responsive!) and the Sewing Club Facebook group is a great way to ask for help, or to show off your finished projects. Claire has also created “Sewing Weekenders” which is for Sewing Club members to sew together (either in person or via Zoom) for a weekend…fun!

I have completed most of the Silver and Gold projects. My particular favourite was the packing cube. I have made at least seven and most of my close friends have one. The excitement of your next project popping up at the beginning of each month is great. All the instructions are really clear and the videos are all you need.

I joined the sewing club in lockdown after doing an online course via zoom. Claire has been creating online courses for years and all the videos are filmed professionally. It feels like she’s in the room holding your hand step by step! The bonus is a network of sewers who answer your questions and inspire you to try new projects. Support is fantastic and Claire is always on hand to help out. We have online social sewing events and had a hilarious weekend of sewing at a hotel and conference centre earlier this year. In person classes are also run at BTHQ covering lots of different crafts. Really worth the money. You get a new project every month with access to a wide range of courses as you head through the levels. Give it a try!!

I used to hesitate to create online courses for ch I used to hesitate to create online courses for children as I thought it would have to involve the parents too much, the kids might loose interest or not see the relevance of sewing as a skill in our modern age.

That was until I asked some children and their parents to test out the idea … and I was amazed by the results, the enthusiasm, the excitement with which the children completed the course and were hungry for more, to move on to the BTHQ adult courses!

One thing I hadn’t thought of is how eco conscious our kids are these days … the appeal of throw away fashion vs creating something from nothing or reusing fabric from other sources really appeals to a lot of children who want a different, better future for our planet … learning to sew … to reuse, repurpose, recycle fashion and fabrics is a great way to encourage and support your child and generations to come in helping forge a sustainable future for the planet they will inherit.

I am so proud of the new Kids sewing 101 course. Those who have already completed it have done amazing things and it’s not just their sewing that has improved … it’s their self confidence, their sense of who they are and what they can achieve and their imagination about the next thing they want to make!

If you want to find out more then head to our website (link in the bio) and search kids 101. It's instant access and suitable for total beginners.
