During this session you will get to experiment with various paints and pens, using a number of different marking tools and mediums to create a fabulous background or two.
You can then use these backgrounds as notebook covers, greetings cards, collage or even cut them into gift tags or bookmarks. The choice is yours and lots of ideas will doubtless be shared during class.
(This session is aimed at adults but if you have children at home with you then they are also welcome to join in however as many of our pupils want to take part for a chance to relax and unwind we do ask that you keep your microphone muted during the class unless you have a question to ask the tutor).
You will need the following materials:
Paint in various colours – Ideally watercolours and acrylic but gouache or poster paint will work just as well.
Paper – Watercolour paper is preferable but any form of artist-grade paper or cartridge paper makes for a close second. Printer paper will work if you have absolutely nothing else but you want your paper to be of a good weight.
Paintbrushes – A selection of sizes suitable for your relevant paints. If you only have 1 brush that too will work!
Mark making tools – Bottle tops, corks, drinking straws, sponges, old gift cards or store card, coffee stirrers, bits of dowl. Basically, anything that can be used to create marks with paint.
If you have paint pens or waterproof markers and fine liner pens, gel and glitter pens these would also be useful but are not essential.
Make sure you wear old clothes or an apron to protect yourself. You will also need a Jar of water to wash your brushes and paper towel or a cloth to clean your brush on and take off excess water and paint.
How do you access the class?
Before the class you will need to download the Zoom cloud meetings app for your phone, tablet or laptop. (The device with the biggest screen that you can position close to you when working is best).
We will then email you a link so that you can join the class.
If you are not familiar with Zoom then Claire and the team are available to talk you through the process of preparing just ask in plenty of time so we can be sure you are all set up and good to go on the day.
