Pupils will need a small amount of DK yarn in red and green (Or purple/white if you’d prefer to make poppies to remember animals who died in the war or encourage peace). You will also require a 4mm hook, a small pair of scissors and a darning needle. The centre is created with a button. A black button with a shank is best for this but if you don’t have one with a shank, some black cotton is best to stitch it in place so it wont be seen. You will also need a sewing needle that will fit through the holes in your button.
You can add brooch backs or pins to the reverse of your poppy, Claire will demonstrate how to do this but you will not necessarily add them during the session so you do not need to have them to hand. If you do and you also have a glue gun, even better!!
If you are a newbie crocheter and are still a little unsure of your ability then you can make these in chunky yarn with a 6mm hook. They will just come up a little bit big, but it’s a good way of testing the pattern out before attempting it with a smaller yarn/hook.
Once you have booked your space a ZOOM invitation will be sent to you by email in time for the class.
