During the day you will learn the fine art of shibori, starting with stitch resist dyeing and continuing with various fold and clamp methods.
Pupils will create a small stitch resist sample on either jersey or woven fabrics as well as dye a cotton tote bag and various smaller woven samples which can then be incorporated into a stitched project at a later date.
All dyes are provided for the class as well as clothing and hand protection. Information will be given regarding purchasing dye for home use after the class.
We advise all pupils to bring along 1 metre of white 100% woven cotton fabric. If you would like to experiment with jersey fabric and at a later date incorporate your dyed fabric into garments then please bring along 1 metre of white cotton jersey.
Although aprons will be worn, please wear old clothes that you do not mind getting messy.
