Grab yourself some paper, a pencil and a pair of your favourite knickers!!
Follow along with Claire as she helps you draft your own pattern, create bands or add elastic to the waist and leg holes until you have your perfect pair!
Be prepared to make a couple of tweaks until you get your ideal pair, but each and every one of your makes will be fully wearable.
You will need 1/2 metre of jersey with a good amount of stretch and bounce back. (We used 95% cotton 5% elastane). Fold-over or knicker elastic for the leg holes and waistband, or you can create a soft band from your jersey for all the openings. Depending on your high street size you may get 2 pairs from 1/2 metre but for sizes above a size 16/18 it may not be quite enough to double up.
We’d advise you to watch the course through before deciding what fabrics and elastics to use and then create your paper pattern. If you already sew your own jersey clothes you should find that you have scraps that will make you some wonderful pairs from stash without going out to buy new materials.
